EPA Recognizes Leadership Grad Elisabeth Fiteni

Elisabeth FiteniElisabeth Fiteni, Program Director of the Sustainability Institute at Molloy College and 2007 Leadership Grad was recently honored with a 2010 Environmental Quality Award by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Beth is a Maltese- American, vegetarian, environmental advocate and feminist from New York, who also sings, writes,speaks a little Spanish and works to make the world a better place. Whether it's bringing professionals together and compiling their services to advance organic landscaping, promoting green energy and the reduction of household toxins, or simply speaking her intelligent mind on any number of topics, Beth's commitment to a healthier, more sustainable world for all of us is contagious.

This particular award focused on the direct impact environmental toxins can have on our health. It was shared with Karen Joy Miller, of the Huntington Breast Cancer Action Coalition and Laura Weinberg of the Great Neck Breast Cancer Coalition for the "Prevention is the Cure"  campaign. This effort included the production of  "Toxic Trigger Charts," which list toxins, their effects and alternative products and practices.
