Dolores Thompson, a long-time member of Leadership Huntington's President's Council, is well-known for her diverse and extensive service to the health, welfare and continuing education of the Huntington community. In addition to numerous other leadership positions throughout the Town, she founded and is President/CEO of the Huntington Station Enrichment Center, a community facility established for residents providing training in computer skills, entrepreneruship, English as a second language, job placement and youth and senior services. After 16 years of dedicated service, she recently passed the mantle of President of the Huntington Chapter of the NAACP on to Darryl Dodson. She also serves as the Chairperson of the Dolan Family Health Center Advisory Board, as well as a Corporate Trustee of the Huntington Hospital Board of Directors. We are, of course, far from the only ones to recognize Dee's dedication and service. In 2010 alone she was honored locally with the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce's Klaber Award. This is given to a citizen who has a record of distinguished and exceptional voluntary service to the community for 15 years or more and has held key leadership positions with diverse town-wide organizations. Suffolk County inducted her into its 2010 Woman's Hall of Fame, and the Urban Leadue of Long Island honored her with their 2010 Legacy Award. She has personally brought numerous good people our way, and we look forward to finding ways to bring many more of the bright, up and coming young adults that she mentors through our Flagship Program.
